my girlfriend and i will be moving to austin towards the end of may/beginning of june. seems like sort of a while before it happens but i know it will come quick. she is moving out there for work and knows the area fairly well. i've only been once and get lost easily so it should be quite an adventure. anyway, i guess i'm joining this community to try and make some friends early and maybe get to know the place before i show up. so, if you'd like to befriend me..that would be neat. or if you have any pointers for me i'll graciously accept them.

also, i'm on the myspace but do to restricted access at work i can't post the link...if you respond and care to be my buddy then i'll throw you my email address. kthanks.

Subject:Lesbian Bars in Austin

Hi everybody. A couple friends and I are visiting Austin for the week. We've been out to Sixth street. It's been fun and all but, what we've been really hoping for were some ladies clubs. Do lesbian bars exist in Austin? If not, what are some of your favorite gay hangouts? We'll be here until Friday, hope to see you around.

Where is a good place to find roommates? I have never had one before, and so far I've tried the newspaper, the internet (like, 3 "free" websites), Craigslist, and word of mouth. Nothing has panned out.

Where have you guys been successful in finding roomies?

I live in Temple (one hour from Austin).

Well, I have so much news to relate... why beat around the bush, I will just be straight forward... I am 25 1/2 weeks pregnant... found out today the baby is a little boy, I have decided his name is shaine alexander, I am still a full blown lesbian, if anything my one night encounter with the opposite species has only made me realize how gay I really am... my mother still hasnt talked to me since I moved to austin to be with jen, jen left me, I havent even seen her aywhere in town since thanksgiving day i saw her at walmart. Prolly for the better, I hid behind the chips isle and made my friend tell me when she was gone, the sight of her felt like a kick in my stomach, then I went buckwild and had six girlfriends for a few months, then I settled with a girl named sara that lasted a few weeks till i found out i was pregnant and i left her to dissapear and decide what i wanted to do about the baby... came back and she had decided she didnt want children and she doesnt want me back, I moved an old friend down here from nebraska who confessed her undying love for me only for her to leave me two weeks later for the guy she left behind in nebraska stating she never realized how much she loved him til they were apart, my best friend lauren has gone back to be with family in oregon for a month and half and I dont think she is going to come back except to get her stuff... sara still takes me to my dr appts and we spend the weekends together, but there is an impermeable wall, there is a girl here at work named georgia who is adorable... (Im not a stripper anymore, found a big girl mommy job working for cingular) dropped out of school cuz it was slowly turning me into one of those little plastic look alike yuppies, and I vow to never let that happen to me, I am proud to be an individual with a mind of my own... I will find a college that embraces that instead of shunning it... my job is great, and I have found i am really great at technology and electronics, and I suddenly have this new found understanding of math... but about georgia, wow... it is crazy how sober and all of a sudden self conscious i am, much like stan from south park... I infatuate over how adorable she is all day then she will talk to me, and i feel like I want to hurl because i am so nervous... everyone knows, she has to know, she has made a point it seems to talk to me and has even sat next to me at lunch one day in the break room, how ridiculous do I sound??? much like a middle school child, but i always talk and then want to kick myself in the head for sounding like such a dork, how should i find the balls to talk to her... Im all big and pregnant with a shaved head, I look like a knocked up teenage boy... its really strange... the liqour, drugs and nicotine that are suddenly gone sure did help with courage, no wit is just null and void.... what should i do, you fellow lesbians, what would you do if a pregnant chic approached you with hey... soooo... wanna go on a date sometime?

Subject:L word in Austin?

So, I'm a thoroughly inadequate lesbian who has only ever seen 1 episode of the L word. I know there's a new episode on tonight, and I'm determined to see it. Does anyone know a bar/other place in town that's showing the L word?

Subject:KKK To Hold Anti-Gay Rally In Austin

(Austin, Texas) The city of Austin on Monday gave the Ku Klux Klan permission to hold a rally against same-sex marriage on a public square in front of city hall.

The decision was made as early voting began on a proposed amendment to the Texas constitution to ban gay marriage.

The KKK rally will be held November 5 on the south plaza of Austin City Hall.

In seeking permission for the protest, called a "pro-family" rally, the American White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan said: "Our speech will not be inflammatory, but we all know the reputation of the name of the KKK, so we expect anti-Klan demonstrators to be there who may become violent. We certainly don't want any of our people hurt nor any city officials. We just want to come and encourage people to vote for Christian Family Values and against legalized homosexual marriage in the state of Texas."

Voters will go to the polls November 8, three days after the Klan rally, to cast ballots on the gay marriage ban, that would also bar civil unions.

Today, Tuesday October 11, is the last day to register to vote in the November 8 election. It is critical that you register and/or update your voter information so that Constitutional Ammendment #2 does not pass in Texas. Vote NO in NOvember to protect the rights of same-sex partners and their children in Texas. If Ammendment #2 passes it could have devastating effects for families around our state. The success of this ammendment could prohibit Texans from the ability to protect their property, their medical decisions, inheritance and hundreds of other rights and responsibilities granted through civil marriage, civil unions, domestic partnerships and possibly even common law marriage. Do your part to fight discrimination and give same sex couples a better shot at gaining comparable legal rights.

Spread the word.

SpiderHouse is doing something new:

Every Tuesday night at 8:30 pm, Sam Tyler will be
showing a film in the back yard under the banner of
Totally Gay Tuesday, highlighting films with
gay directors, gay actors, gay characters, gay
writers, or films that are just so gay that it’s
high time they were outed for their own good!

And you don’t have to be totally gay to attend.

For the month of October, the films will be:
Oct 4 - Gods and Monsters
Oct 11 - X-Men (yeah, Sam thinks there's a little gay sub-text there.)
Oct 18 - the Watermelon Woman
Oct 25 - the Celluloid Closet

The best part? IT'S FREE!!

Subject:Displaced In Austin From New Orleans

Hey all, just wondering what might be going on this weekend in the Cap. City. I got here Monday afternoon after driving over 26 hours from New Orleans, fleeing the destruction of Hurricane Katrina.

So is there anything special going on this weekend, and is there anything i need to know about before i go out.
